For your survey data, Honestly offers you four exports. Three of them start from a dashboard, one from the Exports page. They differ in whether you get finished charts or numbers, and in whether your dashboard filters are applied.

The four exports at a glance

The three dashboard exports show the data exactly as you currently see it on the dashboard – with every filter you have set and the selected period. The raw data export ignores dashboard filters: there you only choose a survey and a period.
Wait until every chart on the dashboard has fully loaded before you export it.
Print version (PDF) opens your dashboard in a new tab as a print-ready page. To turn it into a PDF, use your browser’s print function and choose Save as PDF.
  • Cover page: your company logo, the dashboard name, the period, and the date the print version was created.
  • Content: every chart on the dashboard, including text responses.
  • Not included: the filters you set and the name of the person who created the export are not on the cover page. The charts themselves are still filtered.
  • If you have hidden empty charts on the dashboard, they are left out of the print version too.

PowerPoint export

Export as Powerpoint downloads a 16:9 PPTX file. It is ready after a few seconds; until then you see the message Preparing export. This may take a few seconds.
  • Title slide: the dashboard name, the period, the employee filters you set, and the name of the person who created the export, with date and time.
  • After that: one chart per slide, with the chart title as its heading.
  • Language: the language of your profile.
Not every chart makes it into the presentation:
  • Text charts, trend charts and Impact Prediction charts are not exported.
  • Charts without data are skipped.
  • The title slide lists only filters on employee attributes, not the selection of surveys or survey properties.
  • The slides carry the Honestly logo, not your company logo.

Excel export of a single chart

Download data in a chart’s three-dot menu gives you the numbers behind that one chart as an Excel file. The file is named after the chart and contains the values as the chart currently shows them – so with the dashboard’s filters applied. This menu item is not available for Text, Impact Prediction and Topic Trend Analysis charts, or for trend charts.

Raw data export (XLSX)

On the Exports page, Create export (XLSX) produces an Excel file containing every individual response to a survey. You choose the survey and the period, and you can include data from all surveys that use this survey as a template. For the step-by-step guide, see How can I export my raw data?
  • Content: one row per response with date, survey, Honestly ID, the survey properties and one column per question – including answers to open-text questions.
  • Not included: employee attributes such as department or location.
  • Creation: the export runs in the background, and large exports can take several hours. You do not get an email when it is ready – check the table on the page.
  • Retention: exports are deleted after seven days. You only see your own exports.
If the number of responses in the selected period is below the survey’s anonymity threshold, the file contains no responses.
The Exports page requires the Excel Export feature. To understand the columns, see How should I interpret the exported data?

Who can export?

Admins, Managers and Analysts can use all four exports. For the Report viewer role, the print version, the PowerPoint export and Download data are hidden, and the Exports page is not available. What an export contains always depends on the data you yourself have access to. Read more in What are the different rights / roles in the Honestly account?

Other exports

Beyond results, there are these Excel exports:
  • Employee list: on the Employees page via Export Employees – see What’s in the employee export?
  • Initiatives: on the Initiatives page via Export to Excel, using the filters set there.
  • 360° Feedback: in the competency matrix of a results dashboard via Export to Excel.
