View as employee shows you Honestly exactly as one of your employees sees it: their home screen, their surveys, their dashboards, their permissions. It helps when you support someone who cannot find a survey, when you train new managers, and when you want to check what a role really sees before you assign it. The view is read-only. You see everything the person sees, and you cannot change anything in their name.

Who can use it

  • Only Admins can start the view.
  • The feature has to be active for your account. View as employee is part of the Enterprise package.
  • You can only view people in your own account.
If the feature is available for trial in your account, the icon in the employee list carries a small trial marker and opens the trial instead of the view. You can read more in 30-day feature trial.
An Admin switches the feature on and off for the whole account under Account Settings → Features.

How to start the view

  1. Open Employees in the navigation.
  2. Find the person in the list and click the View as employee icon in their row.
  3. In the dialog that opens, click Switch now.
You land on the home screen and see the platform as that person from there on.

What you see in the view

As long as the view is active, a banner sits at the top of the page. It shows Viewing as employee, the name of the person you are viewing, a Read-only badge and the Exit view button. Everything the person is allowed to open, you can open. Everything that would write something is refused: creating, editing, deleting, sending. The refusal happens on the server, not only in the interface, so nothing can be changed in someone else’s name — not even through a page that still shows a button. When an action is blocked you get the message This action is disabled while viewing as an employee.
Taking the view changes nothing for the employee. They are not notified, they are not logged out, and their own session keeps running as before.

How to leave the view

Click Exit view in the banner. You return to your own account and land back on the home screen. The view stays active until you leave it or log out — it does not end by itself while you work.

When the option is not available

Some rows show a greyed-out icon instead. Hover over it and the tooltip tells you why: If no icon appears in any row at all, either you are not an Admin or the feature is not active for your account. Employees you have deleted are no longer in the list and cannot be viewed.
