Go to Integrations ↗ · Opens the webapp — please log in first · Admins only Honestly connects to a wide range of HR systems through our data processor Kombo. Once connected, your active employees, their org structure and a set of standard attributes are imported automatically and kept in sync.

Available tools

Open Menu → Integrations to see every HR system you can connect through Kombo. The following tools are available as tiles: Personio via Kombo, Factorial, Deel, HiBob, BambooHR, HRworks, Oracle HCM, Hailey HR, Sesame HR, Azure AD, Workday, Eurécia, Sage HR, PayFit, Rippling, Charlin (CharlieHR), Lucca, HeavenHR, Nmbrs, AFAS Software, Officient, PeopleHR, Humaans and SD Worx.
Each account can have only one active employee-import source at a time. A Kombo integration, the direct Personio integration, the REST API and the CSV import are mutually exclusive — disconnect the current one before setting up another.

Connecting an integration

Only admins can see and manage integrations.
  1. Go to Menu → Integrations and click Connect on the tile of the tool you want.
  2. Choose a default Language for newly imported employees. This language is assigned to new employees only; for employees who already exist, their current language is kept.
  3. The Kombo connection window opens. Sign in to your HR system there. You can limit which fields and which employees are shared — anything you deselect here never reaches Honestly.
  4. After connecting, Honestly starts the first import right away. Employee data is usually updated within half an hour.
From then on the import runs automatically twice a day, at 3:15 AM and 3:15 PM (CET/CEST). You can also start it at any time with Import on the integration tile.

What the import does

  • Only employees who are currently active in your HR system are imported. Employees who are no longer active are removed from Honestly; the feedback they already gave is kept.
  • To guard against accidental mass removal, an import that would delete more than 20% of your employees is cancelled, and no data is changed.
  • The reporting line comes from the manager field in your HR system and is applied automatically as the org structure in Honestly.
  • In the employee list, the Source column shows HCM for these employees. See Check import source for what that means for future imports.
  • Attribute values can be at most 100 characters long. Longer values are skipped and reported to admins in the import result.

Attributes Honestly creates automatically

From the standard fields Kombo delivers, Honestly creates eight attributes with fixed, English names. They appear in your account exactly like this:
  • Gender — from the source value, e.g. MALE, FEMALE
  • Employment Type — e.g. FULL_TIME, PART_TIME
  • Team — from the Kombo team group
  • Department — from the Kombo department group
  • Cost Center — from the Kombo cost-center group
  • Work Location — the location name
  • Seniority — calculated from the start date, in bands: < 5, 05-09, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45+
  • Age category — calculated from the date of birth, in bands: < 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
Watch the exact spelling — Age category has a lower-case “c”, while Employment Type, Cost Center and Work Location are capitalised. These eight names are not configurable, and Honestly matches values to attributes by name. If you rename one of them in your account, it stops receiving values at the next sync.
These eight names take precedence over custom fields with the same name: if a custom field named “Department” exists in Kombo, its value is overwritten by the standard field.

Custom field mapping

Anything beyond the eight standard attributes comes in through custom fields in Kombo. There is no screen for this in Honestly — the mapping is set up by Honestly on request. If you need an extra field, contact your Customer Success Manager. Tell them which field from your HR system you want to see in Honestly and what the attribute should be called there. Honestly takes care of the rest; the values appear on your employees from the next import onwards.
